会社にお泊り２日目の午前2時。
先輩から貰った栄養ドリンクのビンに口をつけ一気に流し込む。
すると目の前にラベルに書いてある「TIOVITA」の文字が。
「チオビタ…おじさん命…」
と瞬間的にわけのわからないことを考えている葉がいた。
何でそんなことが閃いてしまったのかと言いますと、イタリア語でチオは「おじさん」、ビタは「命」だからです。
こりゃ「チオビタ」の名前の由来かな～とか思ったりして。
でも一応のつもりで調べたらイタリア語でおじさんは"zio（ツィオ）"だった…（"tio（チオ）"はポルトガル語でした）。
「チオビタ」の由来を求めてメーカのサイトを見てみたがそれらしいものは見つからず。
しかしさらなる検索の結果、個人様のサイトでそれらしいものを発見しました。

なるほど。成分の「チオクト酸＋ビタミン」で「チオビタ」でしたか。
やはりおじさんとは関係なかった…。
しかし上記ページは他の栄養ドリンクの由来が書いてあって面白いです。
（この方、名前の由来をメーカに電話で問い合わせている！？）
しかし、ビタミンの語源は以下のサイトの通り、「ビタ＋アミン」であり、イタリア語の"vita"もラテン語が起源なので当たらずといえども遠からず、じゃないでしょうか。

だいぶ忙しさも下降線に差し掛かり、今週末久しぶりに会社を休めました。
それでも土曜は丸一日寝て、今日も７時に起きたものの、途中でまた寝てしまいました。
